In boys basketball Saturday night, Kinston used a 59-point second half to down West Bladen 88-59 in the third round of the 3A playoffs.
Tylik McCall had a career high 37 points but it was not enough as the Knights season ends at 21-7. The Knights only trailed by six points at the half but could not keep up with the Vikings second half offensive onslaught. Genesis Wiggins led Kinston with 27 points.
In girls basketball, The Lady Gators’ season ended Saturday with a 53-51 loss to Bear Grass Creek in the third round of the 1A playoffs. East Columbus ended its season 16-7.
East Bladen’s girls also saw its season come to an end with a 52-48 defeat to Gates County in the third round of the 2A playoffs on Saturday night. The Eagles put up a furious rally to get back in the game as they were down by 20 points in the third quarter 37-17. The Eagles season ends at 20-8. Ariel Cromartie and Aaliyah Monroe scored 12 points each in the loss.
