Whiteville Police arrested a man who was stabbed Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend.
Sherman Deandre Evans, 45, of 5979 Pleasant View Church Rd., Nichols, S.C., was held under no bone according to detention center reports. He was charged with breaking and entering to terrorize or injure, larceny, assault on a female and domestic violence.
Whiteville Police reported that they were called to Columbus Regional to investigate a stabbing victim. Evans had been stabbed multiple times, according to report, but his injuries were non-life threatening.
Evans had allegedly gone to the home of the female victim earlier, police said, after he had been told to stay away. He allegedly assaulted the victim and took her keys, identification, and telephone.
Later he allegedly returned and again attacked the victim, the report said, reportedly pulling out a hank of hair. The woman managed to obtain a kitchen knife, which she used to defend herself. Owens took himself to the hospital.
Police had to find the victim through a family member because she was trying to avoid Owens.
The woman has not been charged in the incident.
