Whiteville Police said the death of a physical therapist this morning was an isolated incident, and there is no continuing threat to the public.
Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach refused to identify the victim, citing the ongoing investigation and notification of kin. Multiple sources said the woman was well-known personal trainer Cynthia Hansen, a resident of Lake Waccamaw.
Whiteville Police were called to 711 N. Thompson Street around 6 a.m., according to the State Bureau of Investigation. Police found Hansen inside Stronger Body Fitness, the physical therapy and personal training business she owned.
Police found Hansen and called an ambulance. She was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional.
A neighbor who asked not to be identified said Hansen was “very kind.”
“She was always very kind and had a big heart,” he said.
Rockenbach said additional information will be released later.
