Whiteville Police are asking the public to help find the person of interest in Wednesday morning’s homicide on North Thompson Street.
Cynthia Hansen, 71, was assaulted at her physical therapy and training center during the early morning hours. She was later pronounced dead at Columbus Regional.
Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach said in an 11 p.m. press release that investigators hope someone caught video or photos in the area during the time of the homicide.
Residents and businesses located along the following streets are asked to check their cameras or security systems for any footage recorded between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.:
• North Thompson Street (from East Calhoun Street north)
• East Smith Street
• East Wyche Street
• East Church Street
• East College Street
• North Franklin Street (from East Calhoun Street north)
• Residences within the McKenzie Woods neighborhood
“Investigators are specifically asking residents to review footage for any individuals, vehicles, or unusual activity that may have been captured during that timeframe,” Rockenbach said.”Our officers and investigators are working tirelessly to follow every lead in this case.
