Rapist Pleads Guilty

An Evergreen man has been sentenced to 19 to 28 years in prison for rape and assault after accepting a plea deal in Columbus County Superior Court.

Christopher Allen Scott, 36, of Evergreen, was sentenced today (Monday) by Superior court Judge dawn Layton, according to a press release from District Attorney Jon David. Scott pleaded guilty to first degree forcible rape and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

According to the sheriff’s office, Scott tied his wife to a chair and assaulted her over the course of several days. The victim was hospitalized in intensive care for an extended period.

Scott was also originally charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, first degree kidnapping, assault in the presence of a minor and assault by strangulation.

Upon his release from prison, Scott will be required to register as a sex offender and have no contact with the victim.
