Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

BURN BAN REMAINS IN PLACE!!! It’s not going anywhere anytime soon, as there is no rain coming anytime soon.

Above is the National Blend of Models rainfall projection through 8 AM on April 17th. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

And that’s… no bueno.

Drought conditions are going to worsen significantly over this time period, as will the burn conditions. At this point it’s going to take a low-level tropical system or some other significant area of low pressure to bring the drought to an end.

What WON’T work would be the localized intense thunderstorms that drop 2-3 inches of rain over a short time. That’ll just cause a flood as the ground is very dry, very hard, and that water will just run off. What we would need is about a 36-hour period of a light to moderate soaking rainfall…. and that just isn’t happening anytime in the foreseeable future.

Steadily warming temps starting today, as we’ll be in the lower 70s… rising to the upper 70s on Friday, the lower and middle 80s over the weekend, to the upper 80s and near 90 early next week.
