Season Ends for Both ECHS teams

Softball: Bear Grass Charter 13, ECHS 2

LAKE WACCAMAW—Bear Grass jumped out to a 10-2 lead after four innings and cruised to a spot in the 1A State Championship in NCHSAA softball with a Game 2 win over East Columbus 13-2 on Thursday.
The Bears won the series 2-0.
The win pits the Bear Grass Bears (24-3) against 1A Western Champion Robbinsville (25-2). Both teams will enter the best-of-three series as the number one seeds in both divisions.

MacKenzi Clemmons had two hits to lead the Gators (21-7). Amber Ochoa pitched three innings and gave up four runs with three strikeouts.

Baseball: Bear Grass Charter 9, ECHS 3

LAKE WACCAMAW—Bear Grass broke open a tight game to take down East Columbus 9-3 in the 1-A Eastern Baseball Championship Thursday to win the series 2-0.

The win puts the Bears (23-5) against North Carolina Leadership Academy (21-2) in the 1A NCHSAA State Championship next week. Eason Taylor led the Bears with two hits and an RBI. The Gators end the season at 17-8.
