A South Carolina woman with a cognitive disorder was found safe Wednesday before a Silver Alert could be issued.
The sheriff’s office said a 911 caller reported the elderly woman was parked in the roadway in the 20000 block of Seven Creeks Highway around 9:30 p.m. The woman, who is 81, “appeared disoriented,” the report said.
Deputies discovered that the woman had left her home in South Carolina earlier in the day. Family members reported that she suffers from dementia. She was found before a missing persons alert was issued, the report said.
The woman had apparently left home to go to a store that morning and never returned, the sheriff’s office said.
The woman was transported to Columbus Regional for evaluation, and released to family members. Relatives also retrieved her vehicle. The woman was uninjured.
