A Columbus County Sheriff’s Deputy died today (June 25) when his patrol vehicle was struck on U.S. 74.
Draper Bost was reportedly on stationary patrol in the median when the crash occurred near the Hallsboro exit on U.S. 74 around 11:30 a.m.

Family members posted on social media that Bost died from his injuries.
The deputy joined the sheriff’s office in 2018 and had served as a school resource officer among other assignments.
“He was great guy,” said Jonathan McKeithan of KLZ Gunworks. “He was my kids’ resource officer at Old Dock. He was always a good guy never had any issues with him.”
Robin Worley said Bost was a “dedicated father, deputy and a very hard worker.
“He ran a lawn care business on the side. He loved his wife and kids. He and his brother Skylar ran the Haunted Trails in Nakina.
“He was a loyal friend, for sure.”
This is a developing story.
