Cutting Suspect Charged for 911 Misuse

The suspect in a domestic violence case ended up back in jail after she allegedly made repeated calls to 911.

Whitney Iesha Miller, 35, was held under no bond. Court records show she was charged with misuse of 911 and assault with a deadly weapon. Her address was listed as Cleghorn Circle, Hope Mills.

Deputies were called to a domestic on Smith Avenue near Tabor City around 7:20 p.m. on July 15. Miller had a laceration on her hand, the report said, and witnesses said a domestic dispute escalated into a fight. Miller allegedly grabbed a large knife and began behaving in an aggressive manner toward the victim.

The male victim had cuts on his hands and other minor injuries, the report said. His clothing was also torn. A witness told deputies that Miller allegedly attempted to attack several individuals with the knife.

Miller was transported to Columbus Regional, and after treatment was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Miller was released during the early morning hours of July 17, the sheriff’s office said, and made multiple requests to 911 for a civil standby at the home while she gathered her personal property. A supervisor at 911 told Miller that escorts were not available at that time, and advised her to call back later.

Miller continued placing additional non-emergency 911 calls regarding the same request,” the report said.

Deputies took her into custody on a single charge of misuse of 911 at 4:52 a.m., according to detention center reports.
