A new program to coordinate public transit programs will cut down on waste and duplications, the N.C. Dept. of Transportation said in a press release today (July 21)/
DOT’s Integrated Mobility Division (IMD) is funding 16 new Coordinated Public Transportation (ConCPT) projects that will expand public transportation options and improve mobility for communities across North Carolina.
The ConCPT program encourages collaboration among two or more transit agencies to maximize available resources while improving the quality and reach of public transportation services throughout the state. These projects reflect NCDOT’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation options that support economic opportunity and enhance quality of life, the release said.
Columbus County will coordinate with Bladen on trips to Brunswick, Robeson, New Hanover and Cumberland counties to destinations such as medical facilities and shopping, the release said.
“These 16 projects demonstrate what can be accomplished when communities work together,” said Brennon Fuqua, NCDOT’s IMD director. “By investing in coordinated transportation solutions, we’re expanding mobility options and creating stronger regional transit networks that will serve North Carolinians.”
These investments represent a significant step forward in delivering more connected, reliable, and efficient transit services for residents, the release said. By supporting innovative partnerships between transit providers, local governments, and regional organizations. The ConCPT program helps create transportation solutions that better connect people to jobs, healthcare, education, shopping and other essential destinations.
