Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Northern Columbus County, including north Whiteville, got clobbered yesterday morning with as much as 3.5 inches of rainfall.
A much lower threat for showers and thunderstorms exists today — most activity should be confined to the later afternoon hours and over Horry county more than Columbus county. But I can’t rule it out entirely, so there’s a little lightning bolt on the graphic.
That thunderstorm chance lingers into the evening hours, then we’ll see mainly clear skies for the overnight.
High pressure will be in general control of our weather through late Tuesday. This means hot temps with triple-digit heat index values and isolated afternoon storm chances.
A cold front approaches the area Tuesday night into Wednesday, ramping up our thunderstorm chances. Of note, the Storm Prediction Center has much of central NC under a 15% risk for severe weather late Tuesday night … this will be something that bears watching. Scattered storms appears to be a good bet on Wednesday… with cooler (seasonable) and drier weather in here for the end of the work week.
