Woman Charged with Felony Hit and Run at Lake

A child was struck by a car and injured Monday at Lake Waccamaw in the second such incident in less than 24 hours.

Elizabeth Ann Respess, 43, of 4019 Waccamaw Shores Rd., Lake Waccamaw, was held under $200,000 secured bond, charges with felony hit and run and driving left of center, according to detention center reports.

Chief Cory Finch of Lake Waccamaw Police said the juvenile was walking along the side of Waccamaw Shores when Respess allegedly crossed the center line, hit the child and kept going. The victim sustained minor injuries. The incident was reported at 8:56 p.m.

Finch said the case is still under investigation.
No charges were filed after another juvenile stepped into the path of a vehicle on Canal Cove Sunday afternoon. The girl in that case sustained injuries to her leg and foot and was hospitalized.
