Dangerously hot weather is in store for the entire region throughout this week.
The National Weather Service Wilmington office issued a heat advisory today (Monday), since temperatures and heat indices will make it feel like 107 in some areas by Tuesday evening.
The City of Whiteville announced the warning shortly after the NWS announced the advisory. Individuals are urged to avoid being outside for extended periods. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, wear light clothing and stay out of the heat whenever possible. Maintain water supplies for animals and livestock, and check on neighbors and the elderly.
The heat advisory may be extended through Wednesday and potentially, the rest of the week.
