In Tabor City, East Columbus shut out South Columbus in the season openers for both squads 4-0.
Wilbert Avelland led the Gator attack with two goals and an assist. Jesus Jaimes and Ian Mitchell added goals for East Columbus (1-0).
East Columbus will host rival South Columbus on Aug. 19 in a rematch in the Swamp. South Columbus fell to 0-2 after a 9-0 loss to Lakewood the same day.
In Dublin, West Bladen played Lumberton to a 2-2 tie on Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams. Alejandro Lopez Sandoval scored the two goals for the Knights.
The Knights (0-0-1) will travel to West Columbus on Aug. 24 for their next match. Lumberton (0-0-1) will go to Richmond County (0-2) on Aug. 19.
At Elizabethtown, the Eagles opened their season with a tie with Whiteville 0-0. East Bladen (0-0-1) will travel to Wilmington to face Purnell Swett (0-0) in the Bash At The Beach on Aug. 14 for their next match. Whiteville (1-0-1) will host West Brunswick (1-0) on Aug. 14.
