BURGAW—Jaheim Brown carried the ball seven times for 81 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots blasted West Bladen 52-0 Thursday.

The Patriots had no problem moving the ball as they amassed 353 yards on the ground against the Knights. Pender rolled to 32-0 advantage at the half and didn’t stop there.

Brown scored his second touchdown to put the score to 38-0 and cause a continuous clock in the third quarter due to the sportsmanship rule.

The Patriots didn’t see it that way.

They scored again before the end of the third quarter as Austin Deal found Brown in the endzone for a touchdown pass to put the lead to 44-0.

Jayden Young crossed the goal line in the fourth quarter to give the Patriots their final score of 52-0 with the two-point conversion. Dewan Carter racked up nine tackles in the loss for West Bladen.

West Bladen (0-1) will travel to Elizabethtown Aug. 28 to take on East Bladen (1-0) in the Battle for the Bell. The event is a county-rivalry game to see who takes home the county bell.

The Knights won the first meeting 34-21 in Sept. 28, 2001 at old Tar Heel High School. East Bladen has won it every year since.

Pender (1-0) will host Red Springs (0-1) Aug. 28.
