On Monday, West Bladen downed West Columbus 3-0 in Cerro Gordo in volleyball.
The Knights won by scores of 25-17, 25-8, and 25-18. Greer Pope had 22 assists and Kim Dowless posted 34 aces in the victory. The Vikings are now 3-6 on the season.
On Tuesday, the Knights swept Red Springs 3-0, defeating the Red Devils 25-16, 25-8, 25-12 in three straight sets. Shanna Lewis led the attack with nine kills and Greer Pope crushed nine aces.
The Knights (3-0, 7-3) face South Columbus (2-0, 12-1) in a key Southeastern Conference battle on Thursday in Tabor City.
South Columbus downed East Bladen 3-1 on Monday in Elizabethtown. The Stallions won by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-1, and 25-16. Tenley Dowless had nine spikes and Kelli Burgess posted 10 blocks in the defeat for the Knights. The Stallions face West Bladen Thursday.
The Eagles fell to East Columbus in The Swamp 3-1 on Tuesday. The Gators won by the scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, and 29-27.
East Columbus (4-2, 8-3) will travel to Calypso to face North Duplin (5-1, 8-4) on Thursday. Tenley Dowless had 12 kills for the Eagles while teammate Addison Douglas contributed 16 digs. East Bladen (9-5) will go to Dublin and face county-rival West Bladen on Sept. 21.
Fairmont (1-2, 4-6) defeated Whiteville 3-0 on Monday. Kimiyah Smith led the Tornadoes attack with 10 kills. Fairmont will host South Brunswick (2-0, 8-5) on Thursday. Whiteville (0-3, 0-12) will be in Red Springs (0-3, 0-9) on Thursday.
