Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Yesterday was rough. There were multiple tornado warnings for multiple areas of spin noted. The National Weather Service will be surveying a reported touchdown in the Clarendon area that destroyed multiple homes. Other confirmed touchdowns were in Bladen county (extended into Pender), and a much-publicized touchdown in Fayetteville.

Now … we’re quiet. Strong high pressure will be in place through the week with temperatures running much above seasonal normal values.

A STRONG (but dry) cold front will cascade through the area late Friday, which will bring a rather chilly weekend. GFS modeling is hinting that lows will drop into the 30s (!!) Saturday night. I’m not anywhere near ready to jump on that ship, though, as GFS tends to have a bit of a cold bias. Model blends point to lows in the lower and middle 40s on Saturday night. Highs Saturday will be in the mid to upper 60s, with highs Sunday in the lower 60s… which would be normal for mid-December.

TROPICS: A small disturbance off the coast of Africa has a low-end chance of developing into something … it probably won’t. Nothing to be worried about.
