A joint effort by the sheriff’s office, Whiteville Police and the Borderbelt Drug Task Force netted the arrest of an alleged drug dealer near a school Thursday.
Christopher Jerome Taylor, 49 of 402 W. Lewis St., Whiteville, was charged with felony possession of opiates, cocaine and marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver; three counts of manufacture, sale and delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school; maintaining a dwelling for drug activities; and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a press release. His bond was set at $25,000 unsecured.
The agencies worked together as part of a months-long investigation into narcotics sales, according to the release. Detectives allegedly made multiple undercover buys from Taylor at the residence. Detectives seized multiple firearms and drugs during Thursday’s raid.
“The proactive work of our Special Operations Vice/Narcotics Unit plays an important role in identifying illegal drug activity and removing dangerous substances and unlawfully possessed firearms from our communities,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers. “We remain committed to using every available resource and partnership to protect the citizens of Columbus County and hold those involved in criminal activity accountable.”
