2 p.m. update
Utility companies are closing the gap on restoring power across Columbus in the wake of Hurricane Isaias.
Duke Progress Energy reported around 2,000 customers, including around 1,000 in the Riegelwood area, were still without power at 2 p.m. The largest clusters for Duke are in the Hallsboro area and Riegelwood.
Brunswick Electric Membership Cooperative reported three of its 16,000 customers without power at 2 p.m. All three were in the Evergreen area. Both utilities are dealing with thousands more outages in Brunswick and New Hanover counties.
Four County EMC, which serves the Buckhead and Sandyfield areas, had 70 people without power at 9 a.m., but has since restored electricity to all its members.
