A Smyrna Road man has been charged with destroying crops. Gary Keith Powell, 70, was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond, according to Detention Center reports. His address was listed as 702 Union valley Rd., Whiteville. Warrants show that Powell allegedly intentionally damaged $4,800 worth of soybeans belonging to William Rhett Freedman on Fisher drive. The damage was discovered Monday.
