Detectives are searching for a driver who allegedly killed a puppy on purpose while speeding on a Whiteville-area roadway. The Sunday afternoon incident was caught on security camera, according to the report. The driver allegedly ran over the puppy on purpose while traveling through Angela’s Court at a high rate of speed. The puppy was killed in front of the victim’s residence.

Detectives are investigating after more than $4,125 of corn was destroyed near Whiteville. The victim contacted the sheriff’s office June 12 after discovering the damage. Approximately three acres of unharvested corn was damaged and destroyed, the report said. The investigation is continuing.
