The suspect in a New Hanover County murder was apprehended by Columbus County deputies in Whiteville. Marvin Lorenzo Newkirk, 40, of Wilmington, was wanted first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, and felony conspiracy. Two people living in a storage building were airlifted to a burn center after the shed caught fire early Tuesday. Ervin Hakeem “Ervianna” Johnson was murdered, according to the State Bureau of Investigation. Johnson, 25, disappeared from his Bermuda Bay home near Tabor City Feb. 13.
