A New Hanover Novant Life Flight helicopter crashed Monday night on the Pender New Hanover County line. The helicopter was one of those that provide air medic service in Columbus County. No patients were on board at the time, Novant officials said. The pilot and crew are expected to fully recover.
Two people were hurt when a shed burned on Bussy Road in Hallsboro early Tuesday. Witnesses said they heard an explosion just before the fire erupted. Flames were visible for several hundred yards. Hallsboro Chief Joe Tyler said his station was assisted by Old Dock, White Marsh and Lake Waccamaw. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Both victims were airlifted to a burn center.
An LP gas mishap burned one man and caused some exterior damage at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Tuesday morning. County Fire Marshall Shannon Blackman said the church’s propane tank was being filled when the fire started.
