Animal Cruelty Open Investigation

The Columbus County Sheriff’s office and Animal Protective Services were called about an alleged case of animal abuse Christmas Eve. A woman reported that she was prevented from retrieving two dogs from her previous residence on Christie Road, and a man she knows intentionally allowed one of the dogs to kill another dog. The case is under investigation.

Multiple shots damaged two cars, a home and a storage building Monday night. No one was injured in the 9:30 p.m. shooting, the sheriff’s office reported, but a Chevrolet automobile and two structures sustained extensive damage.
