Laura Marie Mace was found dead in her City Drive home Wednesday, according to Whiteville Police.
Mace, 51, was the subject of a missing persons report, Lt. Andre Jackson said. Her cause of death is undetermined, according to a release from WPD.
Earlier this week, family members posted on social media that they had not had contacted with Mace for around five days, and they were concerned about her welfare. Whiteville Police performed a welfare check on Mace around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The press release from WPD did not say if an officer found the woman.
