Elvia Mintz Harrelson, age 91, of Delco, N.C., passed away Monday morning, October 26, 2020 at Premier Living, Lake Waccamaw. Elvia was born in Columbus County on January 20, 1929 to the late John Franklin Mintz and Dollie King Mintz. In addition to her parents and siblings, Mrs. Harrelson was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse William Harrelson; her son, Eddie Kirk Harrelson on October 4, 2020, her son, Lawrence Harrelson; and grandsons; Jerome Peterson and Buren Dean Harrelson.
Elvia was a homemaker, a master seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was a member of Livingston Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters; Joyce Peterson (D.J.) and Audrey H. Grice (Phil) both of Delco; two sons; Coolidge Harrelson of Whiteville and Homer Harrelson of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Livingston Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Griffin and Rev. Mark Ward officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service.
Pallbearers were Chuck Bordeaux, Scott Bordeaux, Brad Bordeaux, Derek Harrelson, Chad Malpass, and J.B. Bordeaux.
The family would like to express much gratitude to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Whiteville, for their wonderful services.
The family wishes to extend their undying gratitude for the wonderful care and love that the nurses and staff of Premier Living showed to Mrs. Harrelson since she began her stay with them. She was known to them as Grandma. She loved and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We rejoice for her, but will never be the same until we see her again!
