Herman Hayes Jr., 85, of Whiteville, died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joe Evans Hayes and his two sons John Paul Hayes and Allen George Hayes.
He retired from National Spinning and was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church of Old Dock.
Survivors include his daughter; Patricia Hayes Blackmon (Joel) of Whiteville; son, Christopher Lee Hayes of Whiteville,; sister-in-law; Bernice Suggs of Whiteville; granddaughter, Heather Wagner (Robert); grandsons, Waylon Hayes (Dawn), Jessie Hayes (Alexia), Justin Hayes (Lindsey), Jarrett Blackmon, and Kyle Blackmon; Great- Grandchildren: Kinsley Hayes, Brody Wagner, Logan Hayes, Emma Hayes, Rhett Blackmon, and Stormy Blackmon.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021, in the Palmyra Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. with Rev. John Roberson and Rev. Wayne Faulk officiating.
McKenzie Mortuary will be handling local arrangements.
