Man charged with felony child abuse

State authorities have charged a Chadbourn man with felony child abuse after he allegedly refused to seek medical care for a child with a fractured skull.

Norman Isiah Greenleaf, 28, is being held under $800,000 secured bond, according to detention center reports. Greenleaf listed his address as 200 W. Sixth Ave., Chadbourn.

Warrants drawn by Special Agent L. Froman of the State Bureau of Investigation show that Greenleaf’s young son was injured while in his care. The warrant does not state the age of the child, but says Greenleaf neglected the boy and showed “reckless disregard for human life by lacking proper supervision”. The warrant states that the child had subdural hematomas and a fractured skull.

Although the child exhibited signs of injury, the warrant said, Greenleaf did not take the child to the hospital.

The incident occurred April 5, and Greenleaf was jailed April 8.
