Multiple felonies were levelled against a Riegelwood man Sunday after he allegedly stabbed and beat a woman, then fought with deputies placing him under arrest.
Howard Leroi Bernard, 43, was placed under $10,500 secured bond with a domestic violence hold after the incident. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, assault on a government official, resisting an officer, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. His address was listed on court documents as 43 W.O. Graham Rd., Riegelwood.
Barnard allegedly pushed Ruby Thomas, 56, struck her in the head and body, and stabbed her in the thigh with a butcher knife, according to warrants. He then fought with law enforcement when they responded to a 911 call.
