Dixie Darlings and Sweetees head for state championships

The Columbus Dixie Darlings were honored in a parade through downtown Whiteville this morning. With flags and balloons flying, the sluggers were escorted by the Whiteville Fire Department and Columbus County Sheriff’s Office as they headed for the state championships.
The athletes had a brief break at the Guiton’s Drug Store soda counter before resuming their trip to Cherryville.
