Richard Earl Harrison Sr., known as “Butch” of Ash North Carolina, peacefully passed at Brunswick Novant Hospital Saturday, October 9, 2021. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Richard Harrison Jr., William Bradley Lewis, their spouses Vickie Harrison, Liz Tchou, grandchild Ashleigh Holobrook, great grandchild Easton Cummings, sister Lynn Bell and her spouse Jerry Bell.
Butch touched many lives, through his nearly 30 years as Brunswick Community Colleges welding instructor. He looked forward going to work each day and passing his knowledge and live experiences on to his students. Butch was most proud of the work he done as a long serving Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 201 of Seaside. As Scout Master, he was always tough but fair, molding boys into young men and producing 8 Eagle Scouts under his mentorship.
Butch spent his last years retired spending time with his family and enjoying his hobbies of shooting, gunsmithing, tinkering in his shop, and flying his drone.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate in his honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/.
Services will be conducted at a later date.
