2021 Pecan Festival to include parade and car show

The 2021 Pecan Harvest Festival is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 6 in downtown Whiteville. The day will include a parade, car show, and many vendor booths for attendees to explore.  

Festivities for the event will kick off Friday morning in style at the Vineland Station Depot. The Pecan Festival Harvest Queen’s Luncheon will give folks the chance to meet the 2021 Queen Pamela Young-Jacobs and the Pecan Belles. Entertainment will be provided Krystal Kella Hawkins.  

Luncheon tickets are $25, and can be purchased at the Columbus County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.  

Craft and food vendors will be available to the public along Main Street beginning at 9 a.m. Today (Nov. 3) is the deadline for online. Check-in for vendors will be from 6 a.m.-8 a.m. The cost for setup is $50. 

An open car and truck show hosted by the Classic Cruisers will be happening during the Pecan Festival on West Main Street. All proceeds for the event will go to the Columbus Baptist Association Toy Store for Christmas.  

Registration is from 7:00 a.m.-12 p.m. and the fee is $25. Judging will begin at 1 p.m., and trophies will be handed out at 4 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.  

The Pecan Parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will be led by this year’s parade marshal Suzanne King. The lineup will take place in front of Whiteville High School on North Lee Street, and will follow the traditional route down North Madison Street.  

Finally, festival introductions will begin on the entertainment stage at 11:30 a.m. following the parade. Chocolate Chip and the Community Band will play from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. A local band founded in Whiteville, Floodwater Connection, will end the day’s activities as they take the stage from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.
