Flea market may be back

Since the construction of the Truist Building in Whiteville in 2019, the casual Saturday strolling at flea market on J.K. Powell Boulevard has been shut down. That may soon change.
Depending on interest from the public and the number of vendors available, one of the county’s favorite past times may be back up and running again.

First East Coast Storage announced Friday that the formally known Oasis Storage Flea Market will be having their grand reopening as the Flea Market Off of Highway 130. The opening is set to take place officially on March 12, 2022, but until then the public can come out and find their treasures at the facility’s Mini Flea Market.

The Mini Market will be held once a month on select weekends with weather permitting. “Exact dates will be decided depending on the response from the community and vendors, and then announced promptly,” said Anna Blackwelder in a Facebook post.

The address for the new location is 10231 New Britton Highway East in Whiteville. If you are interested in becoming a vendor for either the mini market or the grand reopening, you can call 910.367.4996 between 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
