Traffic stop turns up stolen gun, drugs

Cocaine, oxycodone, and a stolen firearm were among the contraband seized after a traffic stop Monday.

Charles Brown, 28, of 223 Old N.C. 211, Bolton, and Karlie Raelyn Brown, 23, of Leland, were stopped just before 11 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office. Charles Brown was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, driving while license revoked, and displaying a fictitious tag. Detention Center reports show he was placed under a total secured bond of $20,000.

Karlie Brown was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine and oxycodone, and drug paraphernalia. She was held under a $5,000 bond.

Dep. S. Rogers was on patrol in the Bolton area when he made the arrests. Charles Brown was driving the vehicle on Andrew Jackson Highway. Karlie Brown had a quantity of cocaine, according to arrest report. It was later discovered she had cocaine and oxycodone concealed “in her body,” according to the report.

The deputy also found digital scales, a Tylenol bottle containing illegal drugs, cut straws, and a piece of paper with a white residue in the vehicle. Rogers also found a Sig Sauer handgun and a Glock handgun. One of the pistols was reported stolen in Bladen County, the report said.
