12/30/21 Sports Wrap Up
NBA : The Hornets beat Indiana 116-108, winning their third in a row. Terry Rozier led Charlotte and all scorers with 35 points. Rozier also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. LaMelo Ball had his best game since returning. LaMelo was one assist away from a triple double. Ball ended the game with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists.
The Hornets will be off till Jan 2, 2022, when they host the Phoenix suns at the Spectrum Center. The Hornets are currently 19-17.
NHL: The Carolina Hurricanes host the Montreal Canadians tonight at 7 p.m. The Hurricanes sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 21-7-1 record.
NFL: Week 17 and the Carolina Panthers have decided to start quarterback Sam Darnold and put Cam back on the bench. Newton was a spark when returning to the team after a season plus in New England. Carolina will take on the struggling New Orleans Saints. The game was originally scheduled for prime time but was moved to 4:25 p.m. The game will be aired on FOX.
NBC’s Sunday night’s game is the 7-8 Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers sit in sole possession of the No. 1 seed in the NFL with an 11-3 record. Weather looks like the “Coldest Conditions of the Season”. The temperature for game time is expected to be three degrees, with a real feel of minus eight degrees.
Monday night is the Cleveland Browns versus Pittsburgh on ESPN/ABC at 8:15pm. Both teams need a win to keep their post season hopes alive.
NCAA: Men’s Football
North Carolina State did not win the Holiday Bowl, but they did take home the trophy after UCLA had to cancel due to Covid-19.
The Pinstripe Bowl The Maryland Terrapins destroyed the Virginia Tech Hokies 56-10.
The Cheez-It Bowl The Iowa State Cyclones lost 20-13 to the Clemson Tigers.
The Alamo Bowl The Oregon Ducks lost to the Oklahoma Sooners 47-32
The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is already underway. It started at 11am. It is a battle between North and South Carolina. Both the Tarheels and Gamecocks s are 6-6.
