Shelton Junior Mahala, age 89, of Tabor City, died Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Premier Living. Born June 24, 1932 in Ashe County, NC, he was the son of the late Jenny Mahala and the widower of Julia Branson Mahala.
He attended Forest Lawn Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Letitia M. Boyd and husband Ken of Tabor City; one son, Eugene Mahala and wife Ellen of Lenoir; one step son, Stephen Mahala Lenoir; six grandchildren, Terri Hood, Derrick Boyd, Carly Sellers, Amber Mahala, Ryan Mahala, Ashley Mahala; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Myrtle Green Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
