Player Taken Out of the Game

Fair Bluff Police and the sheriff’s office arrested a man on assault and other charges Thursday after officers forced entry on his home.

Warrants show Demonte Shamaur Player, 22, of 128 Bruce St., Fair Bluff, was charged with assault on a female and resisting an officer. He was held under a secured bond.

Deputies were called to Player’s home around 9:34 a.m. after neighbors told 911 that Player dragged the victim around in his yard, then forced her inside the home. Witnesses said the woman escaped the home, and Player fired a shot in her direction as she fled.

When officers arrived, Player refused to answer the door, according to the report. Personnel from both agencies forced entry, and immediately found a handgun on the floor of the living area, the report said. Player allegedly moved toward the handgun as the officers entered. He was taken into custody.

Warrants show that after Player was handcuffed, he refused to exit the vehicle at the magistrate’s office.
