Deputies were the victims in two recent shooting incidents, but no one was injured in either case.

On Jan. 8, according to sheriff’s reports, a deputy reported finding a bullethole in the rear of his patrol vehicle. The deputy later found a similar hole in the wall of his home on Lewis Street in Whiteville. It was not known when the shots were fired.

The second shooting incident was Jan. 18. Two deputies were in their home on Andrew Jackson Highway near Cerro Gordo when they heard multiple shots, according to the report. Only the residence was hit in that case.

It is not known if the shootings were related. The sheriff’s office is investigating both incidents.
