Sally Kester Mounce, 83, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, February 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She is now resting in the arms of her heavenly Father in her eternal home, and reunited with her beloved husband, Carroll William Mounce.
Born in West Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Warren Walker Kester and Annabelle Tucker Kester. She raised her two children with love and devotion with her husband.
Upon retirement and the death of her husband, Sally relocated from Charlotte, NC to Nakina to help raise her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She went to their ballgames, award ceremonies, tutoring sessions, dental appointments, piano lessons, swimming lessons, and so much more. She was everything you would imagine a grandmother to be. She enjoyed playing the piano at church and at home, making pottery, knitting, painting, and jewelry.
She is survived by one son, Todd Kester Mounce of Nakina, NC; one daughter, Julie Ann Whaley and husband, Terry, of Nakina, NC; four grandchildren, Katherine Whaley Shrader (Bo), Walter Charles Whaley, Anna Marie Whaley, and Terry Wayne Whaley, Jr.; and two great- grandchildren, Camden Tyler Shrader and Caroline Grace Shrader.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 26 at South Park Church In Charlotte, NC.
The family would like to thank Alene Beck, Sharon Nobles, Samantha Williams, RN, Lisa Nobles, CNA, Raquel Kerman, and Hospice Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, for the loving care of our mother.
