Horry Chase Ends in Mud

The driver in a high speed chase Friday was caught after he fell in mud while running away on foot.

Zackery Gage Faircloth, 29, of Green Sea, S.C., is being held under $41,000 secured bond in the Columbus County Detention Center. He faces charges of felony fleeing to elude arrest, resisting an officer, damage to property, maintaining a vehicle for drug activities, possession of heroin, misdemeanor marijuana possession, and paraphernalia. He also faces additional charges in South Carolina.

The sheriff’s office reported that Horry County Police requested assistance after Faircloth allegedly fled a traffic stop across the state line. Deputies joined the chase on Sidney Cherry Grove Road. Near the intersection of Swamp Fox Highway, Faircloth lost control and drove his Dodge automobile into a ditch.

Faircloth then jumped from the vehicle and tried to escape on foot, but the 6’4″, 300-pound suspect fell in a muddy area and was arrested. After he was treated for injuries sustained in the car crash, Faircloth was taken into custody and charged.
