3/20/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

NBA Last Night: The Mavericks got stung by the Hornets 129-108. Luka Doncic scores 37 for Dallas. LaMelo Ball had 17 points, Miles Bridges finished with 23 points and 8 rebounds for Charlotte. The Hornets get above a 500-winning percentage with a 34-33 record. Second in the Southeast division. Hornets host the Pelicans tomorrow at 7pm. 

Bucks fall to the Timberwolves 138-119 

The Lakers get mesmerized by the Wizards 127-119. LeBron James finished with 38 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers. LeBron James past Karl Malone for second all-time on the NBA’s scoring list. James needs 1,442 points to pass Kareem Abdul Jabar for the number one spot. Kristaps Porzingis gets 27 points for Washington.

NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday: Round 16 of March Madness is taking shape. Saint Peters Peacocks remain the number one bracket buster of the tournament. The number 15 seed Peacocks took care of business against the number 7 seed Murray Stae 70-60. St. Peter’s is the first MAAC team to get this far in the tournament, they are also the third 15 seed to get to the Sweet 16. 

North Carolina upset number one Baylor 93-86 in overtime. RJ Davis finished with 30 points, Brady Manek had 26 points and Armando Bacot ended the game with a 15 point and 16 rebound double double. 

Wake Forest moves on in the NIT Tournament. The Demon Deacons beat Virginia-Commons 80-74. Alondes Williams finished with 19 points for Wake Forest. 

UNC Asheville beat Stephen F. Austin 80-68 

Today: North Carolina Wilmington versus Virginia Military at noon. 

Boston University versus UNC Greensboro 5pm 

Duke is facing Michigan State at 5:15pm on CBS. The winner moves on to the Sweet 16. 

The NCAA Championship game will be April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

NASCAR Cup Series: The Folds of Honor 500 is at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The coverage is at 3pm on FOX 

NASCAR Xfinity Series: The Xfinity Series Nally Cars 250 ended in an overtime red flag at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ty Gibbs was awarded the checkered flag. Austin Hill took second place and A.J. Allmendinger grabbed third place. The Pit Boss 250 is up next in the Xfinity Series at Circuits of Americas in Austin, Texas at 4:30pm on FS1. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Corey Heim got his first truck series win In Atlanta. Heim got a good jump on the white flag restart and was able to get a push by teammate John Hunter Nemechek to pass Ben Rhodes on the final lap for the win. Ty Majeski finished in third. The Camping World Truck Series is back March 26, at Circuits of Americas at 1pm 

Local Sports: Dixie Youth Baseball registrations are going on right now through April 1, for ages 13-14 at the Whiteville Parks and recreation building. You must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate when registering. The price is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents. 

T-Ball registration is currently underway through March 18 at the Whiteville Parks and Recreations building. T-Ball is for players 4-6 years old. A birth certificate is required at registration. Your child cannot turn 7 years old during the season and be 4 years old before the season starts. The cost is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents. 

Varsity Boys Baseball: Whiteville is on the road Tuesday at East Bladen; the first pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm. You can catch the away game updates on Kool 103.9-FM radio and streaming at www.Kool1039Radio.com
