The fate of William Jacoby Singletary is in the hands of a jury.

The Bladenboro man is on trial for first degree murder for the 2020 killing of Monalisa McMillian. The Whiteville woman was shot and pushed from a moving car going over the speed limit near Williams Township School.
Singletary, 31, was arrested near the scene after he wrecked his car. Deputies and troopers recovered cocaine and marijuana from the vehicle.

The two were involved in a “domestic dispute” in the car, according to the sheriff’s office. Several witnesses contacted law enforcement as they saw the final moments of the fight, when McMillian rolled from the car into traffic just before 8 a.m.

Singletary could face from 20 years to life in prison if convicted.
