The South Columbus student who charmed American Idol judges and her uncle who also competed on the show will be in Whiteville this afternoon.
Ryleigh Madison Bunch and Dustin Chapman, both of whom were contenders on the reality talent show, will perform at Vineland Station from 6-8:30 p.m. Ryleigh vaulted into the headlines when Idol judge Katy Perry said she had “caught the country” because of Ryleigh’s talent, charm and accent. The catchphrase went viral on social media, and has become an unofficial logo for Ryleigh’s fans.

The uncle-niece duo are keeping a tight schedule even though Idol is no longer part of their itinerary. They’re performing several times a week in venues across the Carolinas, and both are hard at work writing new songs.

Today’s concert is free, and sponsored by Whiteville Downtown Development. Food trucks and beer and wine sales will be on site, but coolers are not allowed. Bring a chair.

East Main Street will close around 5 p.m. to give workers time to prepare for the program.
