Missing school didn’t mean the principal’s office, but a day in court for a Whiteville woman.

Janoraleashia Doramaria Brown, 49, was charged with one count of violating school attendance laws, according to warrants. Brown was also wanted for failure to appear. She had a total bond of $12,000 secured.

Her address was listed as 307 Warrior Trail, Whiteville.

Brown allegedly allowed her child to build up unexcused absences from Classical Charter School in Whiteville between October and May. Katie Jones of the school contacted Brown after the first three absences, then warned Brown after six absences that she could face charges. After the tenth absence, the warrant shows Jones met with Brown and the child. Warrants show that Brown did not make a “good faith” effort to correct the problem.
