Ret. LCDR Herman “Clyde” Moore, Jr. 79, of Whiteville passed on Sunday May 22, 2022 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Whiteville NC. He was born November 25th, 1942 in Columbus County.
Clyde was a well-known, hard-working man who loved his work and his family. He started his career in life by joining the United States Navy on 12th December 1960. While in the Navy, he served in Vietnam and was award bronze star and many other medals and achievements and retired as a Lieutenant Commander on 1st November 1983.
Shortly after his Navy career, he founded a logging company and is still operating today “Moore Logging” and “C Moore Trucking Inc”. In 1995, he started farming cows and row crops. He really had a genuine love for farming and he loved to see his crops grow and produce.
He is survived by his loving mother, Virginia Moore Simmons; Wife, Barbara Ann Moore; Sons, Shawn Clyde Moore “Bluebird”, Shane Alan Moore (Karen); Step-son, Ernie Best (Jo); Grandsons, Jonathan Alan Moore(Sadryne), Kurt Best, Wesley Best; Granddaughter, Kayla Ward(Ryan); Great-grandchildren, Oaklynn and Josiah Moore and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Herman Clyde Moore Sr; sons, Clyde Timothy Moore, Alan Fletcher Moore, Steven Boyd Moore; sister, Jeanette Moore Wallace and Brother, Jimmy Guy Moore.
His funeral service with full military honors will be held at Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church on Thursday May 26th at 2pm with Brother Glenn Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.His visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church.
