Boys and Girls Home President Rickey Creech died when his Lake Waccamaw home burned just after midnight Saturday morning.

Deputy Fire Marshall Chase Lancaster said the blaze is under investigation.

Officials said Creech and two dogs were found in the remains of the Canal Cove Road property.

Creech leaves behind his wife and three daughters. He was an ordained Baptist minister, and graduated the South Carolina Fire Academy before joining the ministry. He became president and CEO of the home on Oct. 1, 2020.
