Robin Williamson Fort, age 60 of Whiteville, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at her residence. Robin was born on November 16, 1961, in Rex, Georgia, daughter of the late William Alton Williamson and Doris Lorene Davis Williamson. Survivors include her husband, Leon Edward “Eddie” Fort of Whiteville. Her siblings are David Alton Williamson (Cindy), Williamson, GA and Michael Gilbert Williamson, Rex, GA.

At an early age Robin discovered her love for music, learning to play the piano and singing in her church’s choirs, which offered musical experiences for all ages. As a teenager she continued her musical interests singing in her High School Chorus and the Atlanta Youth Chorus under the direction of Robert Shaw.

In 1984 Robin received her Bachelor of Music from Samford University, Birmingham, AL. She was a member of the Samford A Cappella Choir and the Samford Opera Workshop. From The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, she received her Master of Church Music in 1988. While in seminary she was a member of the Seminary Choir and a member of Southern Opera Workshop.

Robin’s love for music manifest itself in vocal study and instruction. Through the years she taught on the college level voice, piano, Music Appreciation and directed various choruses. She was Adjunct Professor at Florence Darlington Technical College, Florence, SC, 2013 -present. She taught as Adjunct Professor at Southeastern Community College, Whiteville, NC, 2004-2012, Furman University, Greenville, SC, 2001-2004, Greenville Technical College, Greenville, SC, 2001-2004, Palm Beach Community College, Lake Worth, FL, 1996-2001 and several others not mentioned.

Robin enjoyed working with college students encouraging and mentoring them. Behind the scenes she quietly helped many students with their needs whether food, clothing, financial assistance or many times simply a listening ear.

Robin served as Interim Minister of Music in several churches through the years. She also directed various church choirs of all ages, sang in the Adult Choirs and assisted her husband, Eddie in numerous ways. As a gifted soloist, she sang in college programs and church worship services.

The graveside service will be Saturday, September 10, 2:00 p.m. at the Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Rex, GA.  Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church fellowship hall in Rex, Georgia.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, Whiteville, NC
