Richard Kelly Ward, Sr., age 70, of Hallsboro, died on Saturday, May 20, 2023, while in Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Richard was born on March 24, 1953, in Queens, NY. He was the son of the late Grady Ward and Virginia Ingram Ward and preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Ward.
Final rites will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Worthington Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 pm prior to the service at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
Surviving family includes his children, Richard K. Ward, Jr. (Jamie) of Chadbourn, Jonathan Ward (Crystal) of Lake Waccamaw, Matthew Ward of Hallsboro, Grady Ward of Hallsboro, Becky Ward (Cory Williamson) of Whiteville; siblings, Pete Ward, Freddy Ward, Kell Ward and Tom Tom Ward; grandchildren, Madison Priest, Alexander Bryant, Ethan Grissett and Bayden Bass; a great-grandchild; Hazelyn Grace Priest.
