Chases Lead to Assault Charges

Multiple suspects have tried to outrun law enforcement in recent days, according to arrest reports.

A traffic violations led to more serious charges for a Brunswick man who allegedly fled, then fought, deputies Tuesday.

Arrest reports show Ryan Lamar Campbell, 42, was released on $10,000 bond after the incident. He was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, assault on an officer, resisting, felony marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for drug activity, reckless driving, property damage and leaving a vehicle unattended in the roadway.

Warrants show that  Vice Narcotics Officers with the sheriff’s office attempted to stop Campbell on South Wilkes Street early Tuesday. Campbell allegedly fled at a high rate of speed, damaging a fence owned by Curtis Lee Lawrence and causing more than $1,000 damage to his Ford automobile and $500 to the fence.

Campbell eventually stopped the car, but exited the vehicle and tried to flee, running from Det. S. Rogers and striking Det. B. Ashley while trying to escape, according to warrants. When he was taken into custody, Campbell allegedly had a digital scale and marijuana grinder in the Ford, along with .2 grams of marijuana.

Campbell’s address was listed as 1255 Prison Camp Rd., Whiteville.

In an unrelated case, freedom was shortlived when a Hallsboro man allegedly fled arrest on foot Wednesday.

Dominique Samuel Battle, 21, was charged with felony crack cocaine possession and resisting an officer. His bond was set at $3,000. His address was listed in arrest records as 777 Lee Webb Rd., Hallsboro.

Warrants show that Battle ran from Dep. Z. Morris while the deputy was detaining Battle as part of an investigation in Riegelwood. The incident occurred just after midnight on Collis Trail.

In yet another run from the law, Courtney Faith Soles was arrested after allegedly trying to flee a traffic stop at speeds over 100 miles per hour on MM Ray Road early Saturday morning.

Soles, 28, was charged with driving while license revoked, a window tint violation, maintaining a vehicle for drug activity, fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, property damage and traffic violations. Her bond was set at $9,500 secured, according to the jail report.

Soles allegedly fled from Sgt. T. Inman of the sheriff’s office.
